This project shows an installation of three individual sculptures and discusses the relation, contrast and interdependence between art and handicraft. Art originates from handicraft and historical developments caused separations between these two disciplines.
As a ceramic artist I tried to find a way to bring an old handicraft into a contemporary art context. It is a game between harmony and contrast – the material and the floral décor play important roles to create tension between the purpose of the axe as an old tool for heavy work and its exposition as a fragile sculpture.
